Introduction to the world of vines and wine
The activity begins with a walk to the vineyards of Mas Ribatallada. Along the way we'll explain how the vines develop through the different seasons, as well as all the different tasks that need to be carried out in spring, summer, autumn and winter
During the walk we'll see RibaTallada, the geographical feature that gives the estate its name, where we can see the different layers of sediment that have built up over thousands of years when Central Catalonia was a sea. More than 36 million years ago the tectonic plates moved and drained this sea, leaving behind all these geological phenomena.
UNESCO has recognised the Central Catalonia Global Geopark, made up of the area from the mountain of Montserrat to the Toll caves at Moianès.
We cross the river course at Malrubí, a wonderful, unique landscape, and head for the estate's winery to continue the explanations of how grapes are harvested and fermented.
We will learn about the differences in producing white and red wine, as well as period of alcoholic fermentation, laying down and ageing or bottling, depending on the wine's characteristics.
Then there'll be a wine tasting, applying a methodology to determine the quality of each wine.
We'll take advantage of the tasting to hold a round table for any doubts and questions.
The activity ends with a tasting of the wines and cava produced by the estate..
